Nurses’ Cabin, Norway

Located at Alvøen outside Bergen, the historic Nurses’ Cabin has provided generations of Norwegian nurses with a peaceful coastal retreat since 1916. As part of its renovation, the outdoor area was redesigned with respect for the cabin’s history and its distinctive western Norwegian surroundings.

Dark Oppdal in Norwegian Flagstone Roman was chosen for the terrace, drawing inspiration from the traditional slate surfaces found at Fløyen overlooking Bergen. The Roman format combines rectangular and square pieces in varying sizes, creating a structured yet non-repetitive pattern. Its deep grey tones and naturally cleft surface give the terrace a refined expression while preserving the authentic character of Norwegian stone.
