Ry, Denmark

Near Ry in Jutland, a former holiday cottage has been transformed into a contemporary waterfront home surrounded by reeds, mature landscape and its own private jetty. The design called for a natural material that would complement the modern architecture while remaining connected to the tranquil lakeside setting.

Approximately 150 m² of Dark Oppdal in Norwegian Flagstone Classic was used throughout the outdoor areas. Each piece was prepared in Norway and delivered as a numbered, ready-to-install layout, allowing the entire surface to be installed by local craftsmen in just a day and a half. The dark, naturally cleft stone provides a timeless Nordic foundation that complements both the architecture and its surroundings.
